Voices Celebratory Reading
Come hear our VOICES, a literary journal of hope and recovery!
The second issue of KRCC’s literary journal, VOICES, has dropped, and we are proud to celebrate its publication during National Recovery Month! This year’s issue features writings from former Poet Laureate of Kentucky George Ella Lyon, Chaffin Award-winning writer Karen Salyer McElmurray, and multiple Yaddo fellow Robin Lippincott. In addition, we have many other contributions from talented writers, artists, and photographers, as well as KRCC staff and clients!
So, please come join us for a celebratory reading on Friday, Sept. 28, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Hindman Settlement School, as we unveil our second issue! The evening’s special speaker will be Robert Gipe, whose novels Trampoline and Weedeater have made an indelible mark on the Appalachian writing world. Many contributors to VOICES will also read their work, and print copies of the journal will be available for $10 each.
In addition, enjoy live music from Sam Gleaves – an amazing young musician from Wytheville, VA, light refreshments, and an open gallery displaying the works of the artists featured in our journal.
The reading is free and open to the public.
