Alfombras – Community Art Project
Celebrate Holy Week in Hazard with a community art project on the River Arts Greenway!
View ALFOMBRAS created by Hazard High School Students or make your own starting at 12:30pm (Good Friday) April 19th.
As a traditional part of Holy Week celebration in Central America, Alfombras de Semana Santa are created out of natural materials and displayed in city centers, on streets leading to churches, or inside houses of worship. Although the carpets often take an incredible amount of time and effort to design and create, the religious processionals of Good Friday soon trample them and disperse their breath-taking, ephemeral beauty!
