Teaching Artist Workshop

This workshop is FREE and lunch is provided. Artists from all disciplines including visual, performing, literary, media and folk arts are welcome to attend. Please register via the links below by Thursday , March 8 if you plan to attend.

Please join us for a workshop designed for emerging and experienced artists in eastern Kentucky who have interest in teaching their art form to others in school and community-based settings throughout the region. You’re welcome to attend the workshop in Barbourville on March 15 at the Knox County and Barbourville Visitor Center or in Hindman on March 16 at the Appalachian Artisan Center. The workshop time at both locations is 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Workshop participants will:

–Learn about current arts education initiatives and teaching artist opportunities in eastern Kentucky, especially in Knott, Knox and Perry County communities
–Get information about applying to professional teaching artist rosters
–Receive individualized assistance with teaching artist portfolio development including photos of artist work samples and head shots, tips for drafting a resume, artist statement or bio and help with project or lesson design
–Connect with regional artists and arts professionals working in eastern Kentucky

Note: Please bring work samples and any portfolio documents (resume, artist statement, biography information, project ideas, etc.) you may be interested in developing during the workshop. You do not need to bring a printed copy of the event ticket with you.
