Cinder & Smoke Fest @ Thatcher's Downtown - Jackson
Jun 22 @ 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Capture Kentucky has partnered with Thatcher’s Downtown in Jackson, Kentucky to host the 2nd Annual Cinder & Smoke Fest.

After a successful first year, Cinder & Smoke Fest has changed venues from Lexington’s Proud Mary BBQ to Thatcher’s Downtown in Jackson, Kentucky. We thank everyone at Proud Mary and we hope to work with them again someday soon. The decision to move was a difficult one, but owners Shawn and Crystal Thatcher have stepped up to make the 2019 version of Cinder & Smoke a show like Eastern Kentucky has rarely seen.

Cincinnati’s Arlo McKinley & The Lonesome Sound are set to headline the 2019 edition of Cinder & Smoke. After playing several sold-out shows throughout the Midwest, including several with his friend Tyler Childers, Arlo McKinley is poised to have a tremendous year and we’re excited to be a part of his story.

Lexington’s Magnolia Boulevard will be direct support for the show. Their sound caught the attention of legendary guitar maker, Paul Reed Smith. PRS Guitars proudly sponsor Magnolia Boulevard and Paul himself has been recording their next release. Magnolia Boulevard has an incredibly busy summer ahead of them as they hit the festival circuit. So, we’re honored to have Magnolia Boulevard play this one, as keyboardist/organist Ryan Allen is a native of Breathitt County.

They will joined by the one and only Laid Back Country Picker, Jackson native Jeremy Short with Short & Co., Chelsea Nolan, Eric Bolander, Rhyan Sinclair, and T.A. Clayton.

Tickets are available NOW!!

As an Eastern Kentuckian, founder Jonathan Newsome spoke a bit about the upcoming changes, “The change in venue was a simple business decision, the difficult part was finding the right spot to relocate to.”

Continuing his thoughts, Newsome said, “I’ve been working closely with folks like the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, the upcoming opening of a second Austin City Saloon in Corbin, the new location of Cosmic Charlie’s, The Burl and obviously with Thatcher’s Downtown. I chose Jackson because I believe in Kentuckians, especially Eastern Kentuckians who are cut from the same cloth. I’m thrilled to bring some culture back home to the mountains that helped shape who I am.”

Thatcher’s Downtown is a wonderful small hometown business that prides itself on service and community. Located in the heart of downtown Jackson, Thatcher’s is part coffee shop, part donut shop and the host of some of the best bbq around. Thatcher’s smokes all their meat on-site and have become a hot spot for catching up and coming Kentucky artists.

Thatcher’s goals align with those here at Capture Kentucky and the Cinder & Fest. So here’s to the beginning of a wonderful and long-time working relationship.

Thatcher’s Downtown is located at 323 Broadway St, Jackson, KY.
